December 2004 Archives

December 31, 2004 : DL Byron

I posted a gallery of 10,000 Clip-n-Seals arriving from our factory, to replenish our supply, at the end of 2004. I'd been thinking all week about how to summarize last year, the year in freshness, and that gallery says it all. It's one of those thrilling entrepreneur moments, amid all the long days and nights. When we sold out earlier this month, in a rush of sales, I told the crew that was a good problem to have. We're restocked, much to do, announcements to make next week, and feeling good about Clip-n-Seal.

After weeks of strong sales, even selling out on a few items, it's great to know that the world's a fresher place. Clip-n-Seal is off for the holidays, Pam and Byron are on vacation, Scott is chilling, and we'll post when we get back. Thanks for your purchases, a successful year, and for being great customers.

The neighbors down the street have a couple chickens (up to 3 are legal in Portland) and we've talked about getting some ourselves - perhaps once we get a more suitable yard.

So it was with great interest that I read about the eglu at delaranja.com. I'm captivated by the smart design of the eglu and it makes me want chickens even more.

At the end of the eglu post they mention the Clip-n-Seal site and blog. The recognition is much appreciated and I think we're in good company.

Todd Jefferson wrote, “I’ve been meaning to order for a while, I’m sure I first saw your product a while back on a weblog maybe boingboing.net?” He did see it on Boing Boing and that was months ago. Other customers have said the same thing and we've got a surge in holiday sales. We're happy to meet that pent up demand for freshness and thanks for the orders!

Clip-n-Seal sponsored an episode of the Eric Rice Radio Show podcast last week. The episode features an interview with Chris Pirillo about why he's leaving LA. During the episode, Eric notes our sponsorship and describes how he uses Clip-n-Seal (coffee, brown sugar, and shredded cheese). Note the podcast is for mature audiences.

A podcast is a term given to an audio or video program on the internet that is automatically downloaded by anyone who subscribes to it. Podcasting is another way for Clip-n-Seal to reach customers in the blogosphere - we also dig Eric's show.

Writing from Portugal, Pedro Miguel Freire Custódio says, “I really love the special touch I get from using them. My wife also likes them a lot. :)”

Pedro also promised to send us a design contest entry and we're anticipated some good ideas.

Michael Geminder placed a large order for his whole family and wrote to say, “Clip-n-seal is this year’s hot Xmas item.” Agreed! This time of year we send out gift bags of goodies sealed with mini Clip-n-Seals to our friends and family. We’ve also got a mailing going out to our clients and customers thanking them for a successful year in business.

Michael's comment has been added to our customer comments page.

I read about Cereality Cereal Bar & Cafe in the NY Times and thought, “hey … they’re into cereal and we keep cereal fresh!” I sent them an email about Clip-n-Seal and we’ll see how it goes. Cereality offers 30 varieties of cereal and, of course, I’m thinking all those cereal leftovers need to stay fresh.
